Hey Love PDX

From the minute you walk through the door it’s clear that Hey Love isn’t your typical hotel bar. Its elegant and organic decor create an inviting atmosphere for travelers and locals alike. The great food, craft cocktails, and the best coffee in town add to its charm.

The ceiling is post tension concrete, as is the case with many ceilings in Portland’s modern architecture. This can create an acoustical problem because hard surfaces create room modes and reflections in the space. One way to address this problem is to add more speakers to the design so they can be turned down but still cover the space well. Tucked up among the hanging plants and pendant lighting is a sound system composed of eight 6” pendants and two 12” subwoofers. Providing great coverage for the whole space, it’s an understatement to say they move a lot of air.

The sound system provides local volume control and source selection of both curated playlists and DJ inputs for hosted events and buyouts. This allows fine control of the system from the bar without having to go to a rack somewhere back of house to make changes. Making the system simple and accessible is one of the many goals we place high on our list of importance.

Working with the Hey Love team was great. I’ve known Aaron for a long time and it’s wonderful to work with a customer that truly cares about music and what it provides for the customer experience. I genuinely recommend Hey Love and if you don’t already know they serve Proud Mary Coffee!
